New Year, New You…Time to get clean!
The foundation of a good skin care regiment is a good cleanser, and not just an expensive cleanser with good reviews, but a cleanser that is good for YOUR SKIN! There are 3 basic types of cleansers out there, cream cleansers are pretty much what they sound like, a creamy detergent that cleanses your skin of dirt and makeup. Cream cleansers are especially good for dry skin because they infuse the skin with moisture while cleansing. Gel cleansers are a gel based detergent that cleanses your skin of dirt, makeup, and excess oil. Because gel cleansers can combat excess oil, they are good for oily skin. Foaming cleansers are the third basic type of cleanser and they are good for all skin types depending upon the ingredients. Foaming cleansers are detergents mixed with oils and waters that when combined with oxygen create a foam which can kill bacteria, infuse moisture into the skin, and cut through makeup.
Foaming cleansers are my favorites because they can be customized to any skin type depending upon the ingredients. If a client has sensitive skin, I may add chamomile water and geranium oil to the soap base instead of the rose water and castor oil I would use for dry skin or the lavender water and tea tree I might use to combat oily skin or acne. In case, you haven't noticed, I am kind of obsessed with custom skin care and creating products that speak specifically to your skin type and concerns. Because of my mild obsession, I have an affinity for diy skin care and collect recipes and today I'm going to share my favorite full spectrum foaming cleanser recipe! Feel free to customize with your favorite flower waters, carrier oils, and essential oils to get the best results for your skin type and remember to HAVE FUN AND EXPERIMENT!
