Good morning pretty girls! As a self professed lazy girl I am here to tell you that having great skin has been a struggle. Not because I am genetically predisposed to acne or I have allergies that cause me to break out, but simply because I'm lazy and washing my makeup off at night or even just washing my face twice a day was (and still is) something that I struggle with regularly. As a result, I began to figure out how to make skin Care fun so that it was something that I not only wanted to do but actually looked forward to morning and night. For me that spark of excitement came from creating my own products and mixtures and lotions and potions and masks. What began as a hobby and a coping mechanism quickly became an obsession and eventually led me to esthetics school and starting PraySlayHustle. But that is not what we are here to talk about today, I'm here to talk about the importance of a good routine not only for your skin but also for your sanity and wellness.
Routines can help to calm you and get you centered for the tasks ahead, whether that is going to work, going to school, or going to bed it is all about preparing yourself mentally for the next task. Part of good skin care is wellness and part of wellness is being centered and moving with intention. I like to use the time that I spend in the mirror doing my skin care to set my intentions for the task ahead. In the morning I go over my schedule and remind myself how dope I am (if you can't love yourself who else will) and at night I spend the time going over my wins for the day and settling my mind down so I can sleep. Because I am a nerd and beauty is my passion, I also like to spend some of the time thinking about my favorite products as well as tweaks I can make to enhance both my handmade products and my faves from other brands. Doing these things gets me in a positive space and allows me to go into my next task with positivity and productivity. It also makes my skin look great!
So so pretty girls, get into a good routine includinga skin appropriate cleanser, toner, moisturizer, and treatment (eye cream, serum, etc) to target your specific needs. Get centered and in touch with things that you are passionate about. Move with intention and prepare yourself for the tasks ahead. And remember that beauty starts from the inside.
